About Elements of Bodywork

Elements of Bodywork is a therapeutic massage studio, providing massage to enhance your quality of life. Our goal is to help you relieve your body’s stresses and muscular tension, reduce inflammation and fatigue, and help overcome acute and chronic conditions. In addition, we offer self-care tips to aid you in sustaining a healthy body.

Owned and operated by Licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapists, David Parks and Karen Parks have a combined 20+ years of massage and bodywork experience. Elements of Bodywork has been serving Charlotte since 2010.

David and Karen have a passion for educating their clients; helping them to increase their body awareness. Their enthusiasm and passion for physical healing lead them to an effective therapeutic massage modality, neuromuscular therapy. Neuromuscular therapy (NMT), while utilizing open communication with their clients, can relieve the most stressful and tense muscles and tissues.

What separates Elements of Bodywork from other massage therapy centers is their amalgamated approach. Their approach includes listening to each clients’ needs, demonstrating beneficial stretches and exercises, blending multiple elements from a variety of massage techniques, addressing postural distortions, and alleviating tense muscles and restricted joints. Each bodywork session is focused on creating a very therapeutic experience.

Massage magic? As a stressed out IT geek at a major financial institution in the middle of a merger, I’m not in a good place and somewhat skeptical about the “mystical” effects of massage. However, after Karen does an hour of deep tissue work, I’m not only relaxed, yet rejuvenated, emotionally balanced, and my enthusiasm is restored! Remarkable stuff. Give it a try, even if you’re a skeptic.

David is amazing! I’ve been having pain issues with my neck, shoulder and ankle for a long time. He spent considerable time, getting to know my pain issues, showed me several exercises to strengthen my muscles and talked with me through the session, explaining what he was doing and how the muscles relate to each other. I like that he made education a part of the therapy treatment by teaching me simple, effective methods that I can implement at home. For the first time in months, I can move my neck without pain and the ‘knots’ are gone. I’ve had massages before but David is a true professional, extremely knowledgable and seemed to find every kink.
I highly recommend him!

I have been going to David every 5 weeks for about 2 years now.  He has helped me heal from a rotater cuff injury, hip pains, and a pregnancy. He is extremely knowledgeable about the musculo-skeletal system and provides targeted and effective treatment. David also is fantastic at the regular relaxation massage. When I first came I never intended to be a long-time client. But as an athelete, I found that regular massage has improved how my body feels and has eliminated my aches and pains. I am so pleased with my experience.

You will not find a better treatment or sports massage in Charlotte.  The owners are incredibly knowledgeable in their area of medicine, professional in their approach and deliberate in the way that they run their business during the COVID pandemic. I was there last week and felt completely 100% comfortable in the environment that they provide during these crazy times.  I will be back soon.

Karen is the best most knowledgeable massage therapist I’ve ever had. She has even helped me when MD’s couldn’t. MRI and cortisone weren’t as effective as she has been.

Ever wonder where a massage therapist goes to get a massage? It’s here, at Elements of Bodywork. As a therapist I need specific care for work related injuries and it has been a struggle to find someone knowledgeable enough to keep me in top shape. Now that I’ve found this place I won’t go anywhere else.
